Last week, I got my hands on Legend Of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. I have to say, this game is freaking amazing. No bullcrap, this game is just good. The open-world aspect was expected by the trailers and promotional ads and I love it. Enough Of My Rambling, lets get into it.
Right now, there isn’t much of a lore found. I do know from my experience with previous zelda games, is that this game is definitely after Ocarina of Time but, I don’t know if its a parallel universe or just a timeline squished between two games. The game has old and new settings. The Map is of Ocarina of Time but, there are ancient tech sites which makes no sense. Ocarina of Time never had any major tech. The timeline is unknown but it doesnt ruin the experience.
Lore (Without Spoilers)
Breath of The Wild, as stated before, takes place in the Ocarina of Time Map but, with some added places and creatures. The Main objective is the same in every Zelda game. Kill Ganon, in this case Calamity Ganon. There are several tasks and adventures along the way but, this game has a very good open-world aspect. You can go to ganon’s castle at a very low point in the game and not even be ready. You can go to the castle, venture the castle and even experience the boss fight, with no armor or weapons whatsoever. It’s a scary but, nice aspect.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild is nice but, the open-world aspect isn’t the only thing present. This is the first game where physics are really present. Link can climb mountains fall off building and properly manipulate gravity. Fighting in this game is also very similar to Dark Souls III. Link can use almost anything as a weapon and can turn battles around to his advantage. Most of the concerns I have can be considered minor. For starters, Link can use anything in the game as a weapon but, they always break so easily. Shields break just as much. Fighting enemies are also a big long dramatic fight. When you fight a monster that is much stronger that you, it will take YEARS to kill them, even with a good weapon.
Breath of the Wild Is Mainly a game that requires work. If you don’t work to get to a certain point, you wont get anything. So you spoiled kids out there would definitely hate this game… I think.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a fantastic game and I feel as if Nintendo could come back up to good standing with this game. Relations on Nintendo Switch is a different article, an update rather. I Got B.O.W on Wii U and its fantastic, both consoles actually look the exact same graphics wise. There is lots to do and it’s one of those games where you can play for days and not get bored. You can go through hours playing mission after mission but, there is still more to uncover at the end of the day. That’s probably why it took a BILLION years to make this game and release it to the public. If you are a fan of really packed open-world games, buy it. Its worth the money.
